16.12.11 - Bailiff Visit
Jersey Post is honoured to receive a special Christmas visit from The Bailiff, Mr Michael Birt today.
The Bailiff will be met by Kevin Keen, Jersey Post’s Chief Executive, who will escort him on a tour of the operational areas of the dedicated Rue des Pres sorting office whilst they are in full swing for the peak Christmas period. Mr Birt will also meet with postal workers at Jersey Post who are currently working extra hard to deliver cards and gifts to Islanders before the big day arrives.
Despite the email revolution in communications, Jersey Post always sees an increase in mail volumes during the month of December. Jersey Post expects that the total number of items processed at Rue des Pres during December 2011 will be in excess of 4 million pieces – over double the normal amount of items processed in any month.
Whilst the number of Christmas cards being sent continues to decrease, the number of packets and parcels being sent is steadily rising. 2011 will be no exception to this and the trend for increasing packet mail is set to continue with volumes around 20% higher than in December last year.
