23.06.10 - Ferry Fire – delays reduced
Following the fire on board the Commodore Clipper last week, a replacement vessel has been chartered for two weeks to help minimise disruption whilst the Clipper is repaired.
The chartered vessel has will enabled Condor to return to an almost normal sailing schedule, reducing delays to passengers and related services that rely on the ferry service locally. Whilst the replacement vessel is already in operation, she is not as fast as the Clipper but this should not impact on either inbound or outbound mail services.
Gary Carroll, Service Delivery Director at Jersey Post stated, “Whilst there may be some minor delays with the chartered vessel, we do not anticipate that these will impact on the service that customers receive from us. In addition, the current spell of good weather should help further reduce the likelihood of this occurring.”
Jersey Post is working closely with Condor and other supply chain partners throughout this time. Jersey Post’s bulk mail customers are being kept informed regarding the outbound mail situation, and will continue to be liaised with on an individual basis.
Any customer with concerns regarding the despatch of postal items to the UK or internationally, should contact Jersey Post Customer Services on 616616 or email customerservices@jerseypost.com.
