05.01.11 - Christmas mail still arriving

As weather conditions continue to improve across affected parts of the UK, items of mail that were posted before Christmas are still arriving in the island.

Jersey Post confirmed today that mail posted before the last Christmas posting dates in the UK is continuing to arrive at Postal Headquarters. Ian Carr, Jersey Post's Chief Executive, stated, ‘The weather in the UK during December was particularly severe in many parts of the UK causing unavoidable delays to postal collections and deliveries. As the weather improves, the Royal Mail is persisting with its efforts to resolve this situation and ensure all items of mail are collected and delivered as quickly as possible.’

Mr Carr also confirmed that as soon as mail arrives in the island from the UK, it is processed and sent out on delivery. Any customers who are still waiting for gifts or cards from the UK or further a field that have not yet been received, may find that they arrive in the next few days.
