01.02.12 - Second Jubilee Issue
A second stamp issue celebrating The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee has been announced by Jersey Post today. One high value stamp, the latest edition to their Definitive range, will be issued on 1 June 2012.
Jersey Post’s philatelic design team have worked closely with the Bailiff and Treasury and Resources to produce a stamp which will form part of the island’s jubilee celebrations. Head of Philatelic, Sally Diamond Ferbrache explains, “For the second time this year, we are releasing a ‘world first’ stamp which will be sure to grab the attention of stamp and royalty enthusiasts all over the world.”
Although preview images of the stamp are being kept under lock and key, Mrs Ferbrache describes the stamp as depicting the first official holographic portrait of Her Majesty the Queen.
“This has been a close collaboration involving the artist Chris Levine, the holographer Rob Munday and Cartor Security Printers, as well as the Jersey Treasury,” she said. “It is the same portrait which will be used on the new £100 banknote and we are delighted to be able to continue the year with another innovative design”.
