17.02.10 - SecureDrop extended

Jersey Post is extending its SecureDrop delivery service to St Helier following successful trials last year in other parishes.

SecureDrop is a convenient and free service designed to provide Islanders with an alternative parcel delivery location. The purpose is to enable householders to nominate a place on their property where larger packets and parcels, that do not require a signature, can be left by the postman if there is no answer at the door. The service does not apply to Special Delivery or Recorded Delivery items of mail as these services always require a signature on delivery.
Following the success of the initial trial in St Saviour last summer, it was then extended to St Brelade, St Clement and the country parishes in the autumn.

Postal Services General Manager Andy Jehan said that the SecureDrop trial was rolled out incrementally across the Island to refine and perfect the service before introducing it to the most heavily populated parish.

‘St Helier is the last parish to receive this service simply due to the complexity that this parish presents with its high number of dwellings. Unfortunately, due to the communal nature of blocks of flats and the lack of secure areas where large items of mail can be safely left, at this point in time, we are not able to offer the SecureDrop service to flat dwellers and other multi-occupancy residences,’ he said.

St Helier residents will this week be receiving a letter and application form inviting them to sign up to the service. However, should customers require additional information, or have any questions about the service, they are advised to contact the Jersey Post Customer Services Team on 616616 or by email to customerservice@jerseypost.com
