Jersey Post calls for Islanders to 'Celebrate Jersey' with design a postcard competition

Jersey Post is delighted to announce the launch of its inaugural 'Celebrating Jersey' themed design a postcard competition ahead of the first-ever World Postcard Day on 1 October 2020. The initiative, which launches 4 September 2020, marks the anniversary of the first postcard introduced in 1869.

Islanders of all ages are invited to help celebrate this special day by designing a postcard that fits the theme 'Celebrating Jersey'. Entrants can choose to interpret the theme any way they like – whether quirky, humorous, or traditional - and use any medium they want; with both physical and digital entries accepted.

The competition, which closes on Friday 18 September 2020, has three age categories to choose from: Under 7, 7–11 and 12+. Following the closing date, a panel will carefully select a winning design from each category.

The winners will join the worldwide celebration by seeing their designs produced as postcards and used to promote Jersey around the world. The complete set of three images will be available for sale at Jersey Post's flagship post office at Broad Street, with the proceeds going to Jersey Post's chosen charity, Holiday for Heroes Jersey.

We saw through our Connecting Jersey postcard campaign earlier in the year that postcards can still be a powerful way to stay connected at a time when seeing our loved ones can be challenging. With many of us staycationing this year, provoking a newfound appreciation for our beautiful Island, we're excited to see how Islanders will choose to celebrate Jersey in their designs."

Entries can then be posted in the designated collection boxes at Rue des Pres and Broad Street Post Offices or sent freepost to:
