Jersey Post staff have selected Mind Jersey as their chosen charity for 2022, following a staff vote taken at the end of last year.

Since 2013, Jersey Post has committed a year of fundraising to multiple local charities including; Headway Jersey, Macmillan Jersey, Jersey Alzheimer’s Association, Jersey Cheshire Home, Les Amis, JSPCA and Holidays for Heroes Jersey, raising much needed funds and increasing awareness of these charities through a variety of individual, team, and company-wide initiatives.

Tim Brown, Chief Executive of Jersey Post, said: “As we continue to navigate through Covid-19, and the impact it has on our wellbeing, lifestyle, community and economy, it has caused a strain on mental health for many people. There has never been a more important time to focus on mental wellbeing and Mind Jersey provides vital help and support within the local community to those who need it the most.”

Mind Jersey is an independent local charity whose aim is to provide support to anyone experiencing a mental health problem, whether it be stress, depression, or a crisis. They offer a wide variety of services including, peer support, counselling, residential support and help to cope for individuals of all ages. The charity also works to change the public’s attitude towards mental illness by reducing the stigma and misunderstanding that is often associated with it.

With a long history in the Island, Mind Jersey relaunched in 2011. The charity evolved from its predecessor, Jersey Focus on Mental Health, which originally formed in 2002, as the result of a merger between Jersey Association of Mental Health (formed in 1969) and The Jersey Schizophrenia Fellowship (formed in 1977). All money raised by Mind Jersey stays in Jersey for the benefit of its people, and the charity also benefits from the shared resources and expertise of its affiliate Mind UK.

Dr Patricia Tumelty, Executive Director of Mind Jersey commented, “Mind Jersey is honoured and excited to be chosen as Jersey Post’s charity for 2022. We believe no one should have to face a mental health illness alone and support from an organisation like Jersey Post goes a long way in helping us to continue our work within the Island community. Jersey Post is a fine example of a generous local business, and we look forward to working with them.”

Jersey Post is proud to support Mind Jersey.
