Post early and beat the Festive rush

Posted • 07 November 2022

Whether ordering online or posting gifts and cards to family and friends, Jersey Post is continuing to encourage Islanders to prepare for Christmas early.

So far this year, Jersey Post has processed and delivered 3.8 million parcels locally. Heading into Christmas peak, volumes are expected to further rise, with an over 30% increase in parcels anticipated during the last few months of the year.

Niall McClure, Jersey Post’s Managing Director for Post and Logistics, says, “We expect that parcel volumes will rise considerably over November and December, particularly in respect of online shopping and consumers taking advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. With the onset of another busy festive season ahead, we have put extra operational measures in place to ensure that our on-Island delivery service will manage the increase as seamlessly as possible. The good news is, we now have over three quarters of the Island signed up to our SecureDrop service, which helps us process parcels quickly and increases the likelihood of delivery upon the first attempt to these households.”

It is also important that customers take unforeseen circumstances into account and post early, Niall adds, “Last week’s adverse weather conditions and disruption to freight boats led to considerable delays in the delivery of parcels and some letter mail, demonstrating that leaving posting for Christmas to the last minute is a risky strategy. We encourage customers to post early to avoid disappointment.”
