Our approach to postage makes it easier for you to choose the right service when sending items of mail to anywhere in the world. Simply choose the postage format and destination and then add tracking, enhanced compensation or an express delivery time as needed.
This page contains our current rates as of Thursday 1st October 2020 for Standard and Premium postage services, which are available to purchase from any post office around the island. In addition, customers can purchase Letter and Large Letter premium postage labels online via the postage calculator and benefit from a 2% discount.
Jersey Post advises customers sending mail to consider using our ‘tracked and signed services’ as this will stand the best chance of a delivery attempt during this period of extraordinary measures. Please note that as of 18th March 2020 until further notice, we are suspending the payment of compensation for items lost, or not delivered also we are not Guaranteeing next day services.

Important regulatory change: Items of mail containing Goods and/or Merchandise can only be sent as Parcel and Large Parcel mail formats to international destinations. Letter and Large Letter mail formats are only to be used, to international destinations, for items of mail containing Letters, Cards and/or Documents.
Goods and/or Merchandise being sent to the UK can use any mail format, as long as the correct customs label is completed and attached.

Some things need extra special treatment when sending, an important document perhaps, valuable goods or a time critical item. Choose Signed-for to gain assurance that someone has accepted the delivery, or choose Tracked & Signed to monitor the item on its journey. Alternatively, choose Courier to add extra special handling and monitoring provided by our global delivery partner FedEx.

It is very difficult to provide exact delivery timescales to off-island addresses as there are so many factors outside of Jersey Post's control e.g. weather, transport delays, processing in the destination country etc. However, as a rough guide we say: UK, other Channel Islands and Isle of Man - 3-5 working days. European addresses - 7-10 working days and Rest of World destinations up to 10-12 working days. Please note - these timescales are for letters and documents. Due to Customs restrictions and controls in other countries it is impossible to provide delivery estimates for goods or merchandise.
For guaranteed next-day delivery to the UK use our Courier service, available online or over the counter. Alternatively, consider our Tracked & Signed service, with an expected next-day delivery. Due to customs import restrictions, we are unable to guarantee next-day delivery of goods or merchandise to the UK. Please note - adverse weather may impact on next-day services as they are reliant on mail plane arrival and departure.
VAT must be paid on most items sent from Jersey to the UK. As a personal customer, any items that you have sold via an online selling website, are subject to VAT. Any gifts you are sending that exceed a retail value of £39.00 may need to have VAT paid on them and it is advisable to do so at the time of sending, as Royal Mail add an additional £8 handling fee. If you are a business sending items that have been sold online, you will need to pay VAT on any item that you are posting to customers based in the UK. VAT relief was previously allowed for goods less than £15 but this is no longer the case. For more information visit www.gov.je.
