Stamped with festive cheer

Posted • 05 November 2025

‘Tis the season to post early! As Jersey Post prepares for its busiest time of year, islanders are encouraged to post as early as they can to ensure Christmas gifts reach their destinations on time.

Julie Thomas, Chief Operating Officer at Jersey Post, says: “We’re ready for another busy Christmas, delivering more parcels and helping more customers. From the end of November, we see a 30% increase in parcels and letters, with up 65,000 items delivered daily by our Posties!”

At Jersey Post’s three Sorting Offices, extra team members have been brought on board to help sort and deliver mail, to accommodate the increased volume of mail.

Post Offices at Broad Street and Rue des Pres will extend their opening hours, and Counter Colleagues will be spreading festive cheer by suprising some lucky customers with Random Acts of Kindness in the form of free parcel postage.

Posties will be delivering letters to Santa in the North Pole again this year. Children can post their letter and Christmas list in any Post Box around the island free of charge (or in one of the special boxes at Broad Street and Rue des Pres Post Offices, the library in St Helier or St Saviour Parish Hall), by 12th December. Remember to include your name and address so Santa can reply!

This week, every household on the island will receive a handy guide to posting over the festive period, featuring last posting dates, opening hours at Broad Street and Rue des Pres Post Offices, and parcel collection details. A digital version can also be downloaded from the website.

Julie adds: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to our incredible teams – from our Posties delivering come rain or shine; to our Operations team for all their hard work behind the scenes in the Sorting Office; and to our Counter Colleagues and Customer Care teams for all the help they provide to our customers during this exceptionally busy time.”

Here are some top tips for sending and receiving mail over the festive period:

  • Beat the rush – post as early as you can before the last posting dates!
  • Pre-pay VAT on goods going to the UK to speed up delivery.
  • Buy your postage online – simply print your label and then drop your item at your nearest Post Office.
  • Sign-up for SecureDrop – your letters and parcels (including signed-for items) will be delivered to your property, even when you’re not at home!
